The small animal skins offer a wide range of processing options due to the long hair, the grain structure, with large and small pores, and the skin size of just 0.3-1.2 m2. There is an enormous number of these skins for religious and ethical reasons because the animals form the main source of food for the majority of the world’s population. The skins are not very thick and generally cannot be split. The full thickness of the complete skin is turned into the end product, with or without hair:

• Lining and upper leather for the shoe industry
• Clothing leather finished as suede or pure aniline dyed
• With hair as decorative skins or a warm lining.
