The young cattle grouped under the term “calf” are routinely marketed worldwide. The goods are traded in a wide range of sizes, with very fine graining and little damage to the skin due to the animals’ age. This makes the leather one of the finest in the world of leather and it is only used for the finest, highest quality products. This limits the leather’s thickness and strength. Only for very thin items does a split leather occur whose fibre structure is as fine and unique. It is used for:

• Finished, embossed or aniline nappa leather for shoes, bags and leather goods
• A lining for high-quality shoes
• Lightly buffed as nubuck
• Split calfskin suede for the finest leather goods and shoes.
